Primary/Junior Room Arrangement - Tasteful Decorations

Bulletin boards, ceiling hangings, pictures and furnishings can either help capture a child's attention and help lead them to God's truths or they can distract. If the walls and ceilings are not available for your use, use poster board as bulletin boards. Pray and consider your particular children and resources when deciding what to use.

Active children do not need much stimulation from decorations and furnishings. They are happier with a limited field of vision such as an area enclosed by short shelving. Visually divide long areas to avoid enticing children to run.

There can be several boards, murals, posters, etc., including:

  • Seasonal, perhaps including name tags. A basic landscape with a tree, house, pond and meadow is versatile for changing seasons. Name tags can be apples, pumpkins, snowmen, hearts, flowers, ducklings, hot air balloons, kites, sailboats, etc.
  • Thematic materials made by the children
  • Birthday recognition
  • Maps and/or timelines
  • If your room does not have a window, a simple curtain can outline a window scene.

After-class Restoration

How do you want your classroom to look when you walk into it? Where do you want to find supplies? Teachers can serve each other by observing needs and conditions. Students should do their part to help also. Make a plan and follow it with diligence and efficiency.

Uncluttered

While primaries may still appreciate a creative classroom, they may not need as much stimulation. In fact, a pleasant, uncluttered room may be more appropriate in order to help them focus on the lesson and discussions.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
