Scheduling Preschool Class Time Scheduling Choices Planned activity is necessary to provide control for class time. Teachers should arrange the schedule by alternating active and quiet events, making sure each event is related to the focus of the lesson as much as possible. The morning should start with a calm event. A more active event may follow story time. You can move from one area of the room to another with a directed transition to provide opportunity for movement. End the morning with calmness so children can take home pleasant thoughts rather than frenzy. Observe needs and arrange schedules accordingly. Combined or Separate Classes? You may begin with all the children, a department may meet together for a welcome and singing time to begin the morning, or you may begin with individual classes. All of these choices are appropriate depending on your desires and facilities. |
