Creative Activity Ideas
 
Games (Active): Use these to exercise children's muscles.
Baseball: use foam bats and balls

Bible Map: travel to . . . use with obstacle course and appropriate mode of transportation Alternate 1 - designate home and a named location, give one instruction to follow first, then instruct to go to the named place Alternate 2 - designate a place location, all follow the leader, do what "Simon says", or walk around the room until a signal (All go to ---) is given, then all go to the designated place location, continue with new instruction

Bible Character Names: use a Bible character name to give instructions to servants, soldiers, fishermen . . .

Follow the Leader: traditional; or sit in a circle, one leads and touches another child who can then follow the leader, which continues until all are following, use with appropriate story focus - Moses, sheep . . .

Going To . . . I am going to . . . and I am going to hop; walk on toes . . .

Hide and Seek: One child is "it," other children close eyes, hide around the room . . . , "it" finds them; the children can be shepherd and sheep, king and servants, etc.

Obstacle Course: step in and out of box, jump to carpet square, walk on low beam, jump over rope pond or river, go around chair, under table . . .

Popcorn: with "foam" balls and a sheet

Rope games: follow the path, jump over like a river as it widens between turns

Search and Find: pieces to puzzle; words to verse; objects (one can be different from all the rest); lost sheep; fishing with magnets and paper clips

Simon Says: an obedience game; an use good king versus bad king; use a name from the lesson focus such as David or Samuel says . . .

Stop and Go: red stop sign, green go sign, line children along one end of room, put signs behind back and bring out for children to stop and go

Transportation Today: bus, train, plane ride with tickets and chairs
