Rhythm Time: Weeks 4-9

Week 4

Review Week 3 by repeating some of the activities in a variety of ways. Also use sticks to tap names by syllable.

Week 5

Review a few hand and stick instructions from Weeks 1 and 3. Then use the sticks to tap while you sing "Jesus Loves Me." Perhaps divide the children and have half clap and half tap and you sing "Jesus Loves Me."

Week 6

Review some of Week 3 and contrast a slower and faster speeds with songs such as "Jesus Loves Me" and "Praise Him, Praise Him."

Week 7

Review some of Week 3 and tap a beat of two counts, three counts, four counts. After they get the idea of different counts, help them give the first count a stronger emphasis. Add a current lesson song to tap.

Week 8

Review some Week 3 and Week 7 activities. Add a march with "Praise Him, Praise Him."

Week 9

Review some Week 1 activities and introduce a new instrument such as shakers for each child. Then do the following:

  • review some Week 3 activities with the shakers
  • use shakers with a lesson-focused song
  • instruct students to clap to the lesson-focused song
  • divide the class and instruct half to clap and half to use the shakers
  • reverse the clapping and shaking to the other half of the children

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
