Introduction Themes: Family Portraits

Highlight family members in various ways.

  • What people could you highlight from the passage for the week?

  • Be sure to celebrate birthdays pleasantly.

  • Incorporate ideas from other themes for each individual, perhaps letting the birthday person choose the week's theme.

  • Make a family photo album for each individual over the years for a family history.

Focus on Fido

Highlight animals.

  • Discuss how animals are related to the passage being studied.

  • Consider some of the animals in the Bible. Often sheep are mentioned; however there are lots of other animals in the Bible, too. Think about what you can learn from various animals and use some reference books to find additional information.

  • Examine sheep thoroughly, adding a little more information each time one appears in the current passage.

  • Consider what you can learn from a pet and the responsibilities of caring for a pet.
